Greg Nelson received his Masters
in Cello Performance from the University of Minnesota in 2009, and he
currently holds a position as adjunct cello instructor at St. Cloud
State University in St. Cloud, MN. Greg maintains a regular
schedule as a performer and in addition to his work with the Urthema
String Quartet is also a member of the Duluth/Superior orchestra, the Lirica
Chamber Ensemble, and is currently the principal cellist of the
St. Cloud Civic Symphony orchestra under the direction of Andrew
Altenbach. A love of trying new things and playing obscure
music has also lead Greg to numerous performance endeavors in
unlikely venues most recently at mixed Blood Theater in downtown
Minneapolis where he performed as cello soloist in Theater Mus
world premier performance of the play Bahala Na. |

As an educator, Greg maintains a
small private studio from his home in Minneapolis, in addition to his
position as adjunct instructor at St. Cloud State and his position as
a graduate assistant in the cello studio of Tanya Remenikova at the
university of Minnesota.
Greg currently resides in the East
Lake Street neighborhood of Minneapolis, with his lovely partner and
drinks a ton of coffee to avoid unconsciousness with the busy
schedule he keeps. In what spare time he does have, he reads
good books, cooks good food, and of course collaborates to make good
music with good people a.k.a. jams with Urthema.
